Weaver Scholarship Requirements

WEAVER SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY REQUIRMENTS

Fisher P. and Lillian E. Weaver generously bequeathed funds to St. Joseph’s Children’s Home.  The Saint Joseph’s Board of Trustees has determined to utilize a portion of these funds to establish a scholarship program for former residents of the facility.  The following regulations, eligibility requirements and award procedures for this scholarship program are effective as of July 1, 2011.
 

1. Scholarships made to young men or women are for the purpose of furthering their education beyond the high school level.  All former residents who successfully complete their individualized treatment program at St. Joseph’s are eligible for the Weaver Scholarship program. The Weaver scholarship may be used for any institution of higher learning, including accredited universities and colleges as well as technical/trade schools.  Scholarship awards are typically made for undergraduate or technical/trade school expenses.  Requests for graduate school awards may be considered.

2. Applications can be made at any time of the year – awards can begin in fall, spring or summer sessions.

3. Applications will be reviewed by the Weaver Scholarship Committee consisting of the Executive Director and his/her appointees.  In determining scholarship awards, the committee shall consider the student’s scholastic standing, extracurricular activities and awards, financial need, and life circumstance. 

4. The committee will make recommendations for scholarship awards to the St. Joseph’s Board of Directors for final approval or denial.  All scholarship decisions made by the Board of Directors are final. All scholarship recipients acknowledge that the Board of Directors of St. Joseph’s Children’s Home, by awarding the scholarship funds for one (1) school semester or comparable period of time, is not obligated to furnish additional scholarships to the recipient at any future time, whether the recipient’s education has been completed or not.

5. The scholarship recipient agrees to provide a copy of course registration for the award period.  A check will not be issued until a copy of course registration is received. 

6. The scholarship recipient agrees that grades from the college or university or other school being attended will be sent to St. Joseph’s Children’s Home at the end of each grade reporting period.

7. The scholarship recipient agrees to immediately report all changes of address to St. Joseph’s Children’s Home.

8. The standard scholarship award will be $1000 per semester for up to eight (8) semesters over a four (4) year period.  The amount of the scholarship award may be adjusted in cases whereby circumstances dictate alteration of the standard award.  All scholarship award decisions are contingent upon available funds.
